Before starting carnivore, I was exhausted all the time.
I wasn’t just tired, I was fainting regularly and dealing with serious chronic health problems.
Some days I couldn’t even walk around the block, much less play with my kids or go hiking.
All I wanted at the end of each day was my bed.
I had digestive issues that made eating “healthy” almost impossible.
I was told plant-based eating would help, so I tried that but it made me much worse.
Then came the breaking point:
I developed Interstitial Cystitis, a bladder condition so painful I would cry just trying to use the bathroom.
I remember crying on the toilet thinking,
"This can’t be my life now."
So I started searching for answers.
One day, a practitioner I worked with mentioned plant toxins and oxalates.
That conversation changed everything for me.
I started researching and found Sally Norton’s interview with Dr. Anthony Chaffee and it blew my mind.
Could something as simple as plant foods really be making me sick? Chocolate? Sweet Potatoes?
At the time, I wasn’t a “steak person.” I was a bread person.
But I decided to try it anyway.
And within just a few weeks, things started to change.
The weight started coming off fast.
I started waking up feeling like I could actually get out of bed....not just survive the day, but live it.
My belly fat (which had been my biggest problem area after having five kids) started to shrink.
Cravings dropped off.
My inflammation went way down.
It no longer took me ten minutes to walk without pain after sitting for a while. Leg pain GONE.
And my severe eczema—something I’d battled for years—disappeared within three months.
Now I’m in year three of carnivore.
Have I cheated? Of course. Holidays, birthdays, stressful seasons....they happen. I am not even trying to achieve perfection.
Life is messy. It's supposed to be.
And every time I eat sugar, I pay for it. But the difference now is I know what to go back to.
Carnivore and animal-based eating are my baseline.
This past year, I had a setback with stress from a new job, and menopause has been rough. I’ve gained some weight back, and the hormones are causing acne flare-ups...but that’s life, not failure.
The important thing is that I know what works for me, and I come back to it every time.
One thing I know for sure:
My kids and I thrive on a meat-based diet.
They’re not strict carnivore, but they’re animal-based, and when they stray too far into junk food, they feel it.
We’ve watched it play out over and over again.
Wondering how to eat to feel your absolute best?
Meat Based is the way.
